NUJ FCT Council congratulates Jacob Edi on conferment of Traditional Title, Kakaki of Bassange

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has congratulated Hon. Jacob Edi, a former Chairman of the Council, on his conferment with the prestigious traditional title of Kakaki of Bassange in Kogi State.

 

In a press statement signed by the Council’s Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the NUJ described the honor as a well-deserved recognition of Hon. Edi’s immense contributions to the development of the Bassange community and Kogi State at large through his exemplary service in the media and beyond.

 

The conferment ceremony will be performed by His Royal Majesty, ETSU Bassange, Brig. Gen. Abu Ali, on December 27, 2024, at the Central Primary School, Gbokolo, the traditional headquarters of the Bassange Kingdom.

 

Highlighting Hon. Edi’s achievements, the NUJ lauded his integrity, leadership, and dedication to nation-building.

 

“The conferment of this prestigious title is a testament to Hon. Edi’s remarkable contributions to journalism, leadership, and peace-building across ethnic and religious divides,” the statement read.

 

The Council emphasized that Hon. Edi’s legacy of professionalism has inspired the younger generation and expressed confidence in his ability to foster unity and peaceful coexistence among the Bassange people in his new role.

 

The NUJ further noted that the title Kakaki of Bassange reflected Hon. Edi’s stature as a unifying figure and commended his efforts in building bridges across diverse communities.

 

The council urged Hon. Edi to continue his outstanding service to his community and the nation at large.
