The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has announced a lineup of activities for its 2026 Press Week celebration, featuring medical outreach, health walk, lecture, quiz competition, and a grand finale jean party.
According to the schedule released by the Council, the week-long event will commence on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with a Medical Outreach at the NUJ FCT Council Secretariat in Utako by 8:00 a.m.
The celebration will continue on Monday, May 18, with a Health Walk scheduled to take off from Julius Berger Roundabout at 7:00 a.m., aimed at promoting healthy living among journalists and residents of the FCT.
A major highlight of the week will be the Press Week Lecture and Awards ceremony slated for Tuesday, May 19, at the Lagos Osun Hall of Transcorp Hilton Abuja by 10:00 a.m. Participants are expected to appear in the official NUJ FCT Ankara attire.
The Council will also host a Secondary School Quiz Competition on Thursday, May 21, at the NUJ FCT Council Secretariat beginning at 10:00 a.m., as part of efforts to encourage academic excellence and media awareness among students.
The 2026 Press Week celebration will climax on Friday, May 22, with a Jean Party at the Council Secretariat in Utako from 3:00 p.m., with attendees expected to dress in various shades of jean.
The NUJ FCT Council called on members, stakeholders, and the general public to participate actively in the activities, reaffirming its slogan: “NUJ FCT Council… Sets the Pace.”
