OAU Alumnus, Senator Fadeyi, renovates faculty of science

A distinguished alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment, Senator Ajagunnla Olubiyi Fadeyi, has demonstrated his enduring commitment to educational development by single-handedly funding the comprehensive renovation of the university’s Faculty of Science.

The multimillion-naira project, which involved a full-scale repainting of the Faculty of Science buildings, has significantly improved the aesthetics and environment of the faculty, creating a more conducive atmosphere for learning and research.

Senator Fadeyi, who currently represents Osun Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, is a proud graduate of OAU and has remained an active member of the Great Ife Alumni community. His latest intervention is part of his broader efforts to give back to institutions that shaped his academic and professional journey.

During a brief ceremony on campus to recognize the donation, the Vice Chancellor of OAU, Professor Simeon Bamire, expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the university management and community. He described Senator Fadeyi’s contribution as a shining example of alumni engagement and a call to action for others to emulate.

Professor Bamire warmly received the senator with a symbolic handshake, joined by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor O.M.A. Daramola, and the Global President of the Great Ife Alumni Association, Barrister Leye Bunmi Falode, who also commended the senator for his thoughtfulness and generosity.

“This gesture by Senator Fadeyi is not just about buildings and paint,” said Barr. Falode. “It is about legacy, love for alma mater, and a deep sense of responsibility. We are proud of him.”

The renovation is expected to inspire further alumni contributions as the university continue its drive toward infrastructural renewal and academic excellence.
