Senator Adams Aliyu Eric Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior, has clarified that he never alleged that the signatures of senators were forged in relation to the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Oshiomhole said his attention was drawn to what he described as a misrepresentation of comments he made during an interview on AIT’s Politics Today programme on Monday.
The former Edo State Governor explained that he only stated that a senator, who is a member of the committee, claimed that attendance signatures of some senators were attached to the final report.
According to him, no senator had complained to him that his or her signature was forged, adding that any suggestion that he made such an allegation was “completely untrue.”
“I agree absolutely with the spokesperson of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Yemi Adaramodu, that no signature of Senators was forged in Natasha Akpoti’s suspension. This is because no Senator complained to me that his or her signature was forged,” Oshiomhole stated.
He said the matter concerning Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension had been resolved, noting that the Senate had since moved on.
Oshiomhole added that his comment during the interview was in response to the interviewer’s reference to Senate Leader, Distinguished Senator Opeyemi Bamidele’s description of the matter as the “lowest point of the three years of the 10th Senate.”
He maintained that he only said the remark should be taken seriously if it was indeed made by the Senate Leader because of the importance of the position.
The senator expressed regret if his comments caused embarrassment to any senator or the 10th Senate as an institution.
