The SA to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Agriculture, Honourable Biodun Yinusa has asked Nigerians to be patient and exercise restraint on the planned national protest , saying President Tinubu was doing alot in Agriculture and other areas of national development.
In a statement issued on Wednesday at the eve of the purported event , he described the period as wrong , particularly at this point of rainy season when farmers and Nigerians are expected to troop to the farms to harness natural resources through farming.
Biodun maintained that a day protest will affect the expected bumper harvest for this year and reduce the expected improvement in the well-being of Nigerians.
He said the removal of tax on importation of food items and consumables, provision of farming inputs, chemicals and fertilizers by the present administration to state governments and at the national level will reduce the impact of any negative development.
“The recently launched agriculture program in the Internally displaced persons camp IDPs, and the forthcoming launching of distribution of fertilizers across the geopolitical zones was enough evidence that President Tinubu meant well for the welfare and well-being of Nigerians.” Biodun stated.
He warned on the consequences of derailing the laudable programs of the present administration that will be aimed at ensuring food security, including the restocking of the strategic grains reserve division SGRD across the country.
While pleading with the youths and Nigerians to shelve the plan to protest, saying no meaningful progress will be achieved in an atmosphere of crises and rancor.
The Special Assistant maintained that with patience alot will be achieved in the lives of the current administration.
