SECURITY: Police ,OPC Collaboration ‘ll Yield Positive Result – Hon Odebunmi

Chairman House of Reps Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values,Hon Segun Dokun Odebunmi has described the collaboration between Nigerian Police and the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in protecting Yorubaland as a development that will yield a positive result.

The Federal lawmaker representing Surulere/Ogo Oluwa Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives , however task the leadership of the OPC to put the necessary machineries in place to ensure smooth operation and success of the agenda.

Hon Odebunmi while speaking as a special guest at the National Coordinating Council of the OPC held in Ogbomoso,Oyo state said “Inspector General’s pronouncement is a statement that OPC is a credible organization that is fighting the interest of Yorubaland” he added.

He stated that security was about information and networking, “the OPC members reside in the society, with their involvement now, they will be able to embark on thorough surveillance and activities in their area which will help them and the police special squad on banditry in discovery and arresting the culprits.

Odebunmi stressed further that “The south-west governors should also ensure the prompt provision of logistics and other necessary support for the team.

He however, commended the South-west Governors and the Inspector General of police for deeming it fit to organise a security summit and coming out with a concrete resolution that will chase out criminals from the region.

The Federal lawmaker therefore appealed to members of the OPC not to embark on jungle justice but hand over anybody found guilty of a criminal offence to the appropriate authority.

In a similar development ,the National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress OPC, Aare Gani Adams has urged OPC members to renew their arsenals and be ready to work with the police in combing the forest and fish out criminals in the region.

He expressed optimism that OPC will corporate with other organization as a team to restored safety of lives and properties in Yorubaland.

He commended Hon Odebunmi for his commitment to his constituency and Ogbomoso land.
