Senate Principal Officers: Support group congratulates Bamidele, Umahi, Ndume,Ashiru ….. Commends Akpabio for sincerity of purpose

A foremost support group for Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio known as “The Godswill Project” (TGP) has congratulated the newly appointed principal officers of the 10th Senate.

In a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday through its Convener, Femi Odere, TGP congratulated Senate Majority Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, (Ekiti Central); Deputy Senate Majority Leader David Umahi, (Ebonyi South); Senate Majority Whip Ali Ndume, (Borno South); and Senate Deputy Majority Whip Lola Ashiru, (Kwara South) on their appointments and urged them to be steadfast and be ready to serve diligently with Senate President Akpabio for the development of the legislative arm of government for the socioeconomic growth of Nigeria.

The TGP convener said it’s particularly heartening that the “consensus and seamlessness by which these senators secured their appointments from among their colleagues are a testament to the consultative capacity and inclusive worldview of Senate President Akpabio which are necessary virtues a leader must have to preside and direct the affairs of the legislative branch of government.”

He said those appointed are indeed round pegs in round holes, having demonstrated their “collective commitment to the stability of the Senate which is a necessary ingredient for robust and sustainable legislation that Nigerians must experience in the Tinubu administration” and that they will no doubt perform excellently well in their various offices and pray for God’s guidance, knowledge, wisdom and understanding for the appointees to succeed for the greatness of Nigeria.

Odere said the swiftness with which the Senate President situated his principal officers and the calmness that accompanied the selection process in the Senate demonstrates his sensitivity to geo-political balancing and sincerity of purpose, and that Akpabio has once again displayed capacity in ensuring that personalities with experience, dedication, and patriotism are sine qua non to the development of the Second Estate.

“It is worthy of note that the personalities appointed are capable hands that are committed to the rebranding of the Senate for quality and efficient delivery in making laws as well as high effectiveness in their oversight functions which are the core services expected of the legislature,” Odere said.

Femi Odere, however, said it’s disheartening that some elements within the party might still be trying to undermine Akpabio’s leadership of the senate in particular, and by extension the Tinubu presidency with misguided utterances. He appealed to these elements to “cease and desist forthwith” because what Nigerians now expect from all levels of government is seriousness and fidelity to improving their quality of life rather than primordial, ineffectual political sentiments that characterized governance in the past.

Odere prayed for the success and result-oriented 10th National Assembly under the chairmanship of his principal Godswill Obot Akpabio for the greatness of Nigeria and the goodness of Nigerians.
