The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has congratulated the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, on his 51st birthday, describing him as a brilliant technocrat whose expertise continues to add value to Nigeria’s economic management.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Speaker Abbas commended Oyedele’s contributions to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that his leadership in fiscal policy and tax reforms has been instrumental in advancing key economic initiatives.
The Speaker particularly lauded Oyedele’s performance as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, saying his ability to clearly explain government tax policies and build consensus among stakeholders has earned widespread recognition.
According to Abbas, Oyedele represents the calibre of professionals needed to drive Nigeria’s economic transformation, describing him as a valuable asset not only to the current administration but also to the nation’s broader economic development agenda.
He also praised President Tinubu for bringing skilled and experienced Nigerians into government service, noting that Oyedele’s appointment reflects the administration’s commitment to leveraging expertise for national progress.
The Speaker prayed for God’s guidance, wisdom, strength and good health for the minister as he continues to oversee the nation’s economic affairs and pursue policies aimed at fostering growth and prosperity.
Oyedele was appointed Minister of State for Finance by President Tinubu after completing his assignment on tax policy reforms, replacing Doris Uzoka-Anite. His nomination was confirmed by the Senate on March 12, 2026, and he was sworn into office on March 16.
He was later elevated to the position of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy on April 21, 2026, succeeding Wale Edun.
