A former Kogi State Commissioner for Rural Development, Hon. Daniel Oneal Ejigbo, has declared his intention to represent the people of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, promised to deploy his wealth of experience and extensive network to attract development projects, employment opportunities and federal interventions to the constituency.
Ejigbo, who served for over a decade at the National Assembly and was twice appointed Commissioner for Rural Development in Kogi State, said he possesses the legislative experience, governance expertise and strategic connections needed to effectively champion the interests of the constituency at the national level.
Speaking during an engagement with constituents, the aspiring lawmaker emphasized the importance of equity, fairness and inclusiveness in the distribution of political opportunities within the federal constituency.
According to him, while Dekina and Okura districts have each produced representatives on three occasions and Bassa District has had the opportunity twice, Biraidu District has never produced a representative since the creation of the constituency.
He argued that allowing Biraidu to produce the next representative would address a longstanding imbalance and strengthen the sense of belonging among all communities in the constituency.
“This is not about division; it is about fairness and balance. Every part of our constituency deserves a voice and a sense of belonging,” Ejigbo stated.
The former commissioner assured residents that if elected, he would leverage his experience in public service, legislative affairs and rural development to facilitate infrastructure projects, empowerment programmes and other developmental initiatives that would positively impact communities across Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency.
He noted that the constituency has enormous potential that can be unlocked through effective representation, strategic lobbying and sustained engagement with relevant government agencies and development partners.
Ejigbo maintained that the people of Dekina/Bassa deserve a new era of purposeful representation focused on delivering tangible dividends of democracy and improving the quality of life of constituents.
While calling for support from stakeholders, party members and residents, he stressed that giving Biraidu District the opportunity to produce the next federal lawmaker would promote equity, foster unity and reinforce democratic inclusion within the constituency.
Expressing confidence in his ability to provide quality representation, Ejigbo urged constituents to rally behind his aspiration and join him in advancing a development-driven agenda for the area.
“Dekina/Bassa deserves better. Biraidu deserves its turn,” he declared.
