The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Chief Sunday Dare, on Tuesday visited the rescued pupils and teachers who were abducted in the Yawota and Esinle communities of Oyo State, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.
Dare visited the victims at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, where they are receiving medical treatment following their rescue from captivity. He was received by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Olawale Olakulehin, who conducted him round the wards.
During the visit, the presidential spokesperson sympathised with the pupils, teachers and their families over the traumatic experience, describing the abduction as unfortunate. He wished the victims a speedy recovery and commended the security agencies for the successful operation that led to their rescue.
He reiterated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remained steadfast in its determination to improve security across the country, stressed that every Nigerian deserved to live, work and learn in a safe environment.
As a gesture of compassion, Dare provided personal financial support to the rescued pupils and teachers receiving treatment at the hospital to encourage them during their recovery.
In addition, he donated ₦50,000 each to 25 schoolchildren who were rescued after the Oriire community abduction, offering support as they reunite with their families and begin rebuilding their lives after weeks in captivity.
Dare assured the victims that the Federal Government would continue to strengthen the nation’s security architecture and intensify measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in schools and communities across the country.
The visit followed the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, an operation widely applauded by residents and stakeholders, who have continued to call for sustained efforts to enhance security and protect schools across Oyo State.
