Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have intensified counter-insurgency operations across Adamawa and Borno states, leading to the arrest of suspected Boko Haram collaborators and the neutralisation of insurgents during coordinated offensives.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops operating under Sector 4 and the 28 Task Force Brigade, in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, apprehended a 28-year-old suspected terrorist logistics supplier, Ismail Muhammed, in the Visik General Area of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Items recovered from the suspect included an AK-47 magazine, rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, military accoutrements and assorted foodstuffs. The military confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.
In a separate operation around the Visik River line in Madagali Local Government Area, troops successfully ambushed insurgents and neutralised a terrorist commander identified as Abdullahi Mafa. An AK-47 rifle and a loaded magazine were recovered during the encounter.
Acting on follow-up intelligence, troops also arrested a 64-year-old suspect, Dauda Usman Gubula, alleged to be a terrorist collaborator and drone supplier. He was apprehended at Madagali Motor Park with two aerial drones, drone accessories and 20 solar power banks believed to have been used to support terrorist operations.
According to the statement, the drones were locally weaponised by insurgents and deployed against troops, underscoring ongoing efforts by terrorist groups to enhance their operational capabilities.
Meanwhile, troops of Sector 2, working alongside local vigilantes and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), repelled insurgent activities in Ngamdu, Borno State, neutralising a suspected terrorist informant who attempted to breach defensive positions. Logistic items were also recovered during the operation.
Military authorities said the operations form part of sustained efforts to dismantle insurgent supply networks, restore security and protect communities across the North-East. The Military High Command commended troops for their resilience and sacrifices, urging them to maintain the current operational momentum in the fight against terrorism.
