Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued six more abducted persons, including two infants, in the ongoing search and rescue operation targeting victims of terrorist attacks in Borno State.
The military disclosed on Saturday that the latest rescue followed sustained air and ground operations backed by credible intelligence, leading troops to Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area, where the victims were found.
The rescued victims, comprising four adults and two infants, were among those abducted in May from Mussa community in Askira/Uba Local Government Area. They have since been evacuated to a secure location for medical evaluation and care.
According to the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the military has also provided the victims with relief materials and other basic necessities while arrangements are being made for their safe reunification with their families.
Goni said the latest success underscores the effectiveness of the coordinated search and rescue efforts involving the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Borno State Government, other security agencies and auxiliary forces.
He added that troops remain in aggressive pursuit of the fleeing terrorists and have continued to exert pressure along their withdrawal routes to deny them freedom of movement.
During the follow-up operations, troops recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by the insurgents, an indication of what the military described as the terrorists’ disorganised retreat under sustained offensive operations.
Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to rescuing all remaining abducted persons, assuring that search and rescue operations would continue with renewed vigour until every victim is safely recovered.
The military also urged residents to remain vigilant, promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies, and disregard unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic. It reaffirmed its resolve to protect lives and property, defeat terrorism, and restore lasting peace and stability across the North-East.
