With a heart of service and generosity by all, we can build Osun and Nigeria of our dreams – Gov Oyetola

Governor State of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, represented by Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Alabi, said if those who are well to do in the society can develop a heart of service and benevolence towards a better Osun and Nigeria, it will transform our society and make it become a pride for all.

Governor Oyetola disclosed this on Monday at the official handover of Miccom house Ada to the Osun State University Osogbo as part of the medical school of the institution by Engineer Tunde Ponle as part of activities Marking his 80th birthday.

The Governor who spoke through his Deputy Mr Benedict Alabi described the gesture as an uncommon act of charity.

He stated that this was the best way we can build a nation that we will all be proud of for the benefits of the present generation and the generations yet unborn.

Governor Oyetola said this kind gesture was a reminder that even in the seeming volley of corruption and gloom, there is still hope for the country.

He commended Chief Tunde Ponle for been one of those rare men who have been of immense benefits and service to the state and the country as a whole.

He added that the entrepreneurship of Chief Ponnle which he has adopted in his youth is a model for the youths who seek an ample place and space in a world that is in search of solution to raging socio-economic challenges.

He used the occasion to underscore the need for all the well to do in the state and Nigeria to emulate Chief Ponnle by using their God given wealth to better the society.

Mr Oyetola who is a visitor to the Osun State University urged the management of the institution to make judicious use of the edifice.

According to him, the task before the University is to institutionalize the dream of the donor saying it is when this is done that the import of the benevolence would be realised.

“Today, Chief Ponle has resolved to bequeathe one of the property he spent his youth to acquire, the MicCom House, Ada, to the University of Osun so that we and our posterity can benefit from it.

“The handover of MicCom House Ada to UNIOSUN as part of the activities marking his 80th birthday is an unprecedented act in a nation and clime where people, nay the elite, have elected to inordinately acquire public funds and property for selfish gains.

“Some of us who are witnesses of this event today are likely to take something away from it and join the army of humanists who will invest their belongings in a better Osun and Nigeria. This way, Osun will lead the movement and a vanguard of Omoluabi who will transform the State and the nation.

“The lesson of this act should not be lost on the University: we must build graduates who are strong in character and learning and understand the tenets of service, patriotism, humanism and personal sacrifice’, Governor Oyetola added.
