Corps Members have been advised to participate in the 2019 General elections as impartial electoral officers and maintain the good integrity of the NYSC Scheme.
The Director-General, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure gave this charge in Jigawa State Orientation Camp, Fanisau, Dutse, today while addressing Corps Members deployed to Jigawa and Yobe States undergoing three weeks orientation course.
He said Corps Members’ involvement in previous elections the country has attracted commendations with and outside the country,hence, the need to maintain the status quo.
The DG also warned that any Corps Member that violate the electoral laws would be prosecuted accordingly.
Speaking further, Kazaure enjoined the Corps Members to respect the culture and tradition of their various host communities and serve as good ambassadors of their families and the NYSC Scheme.
The NYSC boss cautioned the Corps Members against risky adventures such as, lone movements, night parties, unnecessary journeys among others.
“Try and work hard. Avoid drugs, do your best and leave the rest for God”, the Director-General said.
Jigawa State Coordinator, Alhaji lbrahim Abdu Muhammad while briefing General Kazaure appealed for the provision of additional male and female hostels in camp.
He commended Jigawa State Government for the renovation work on the Camp adding that “the construction of Corps Lodges in the 27 Local Government Areas of the State has reached advanced stage”.
1,910 Corps Members registered in Jigawa Camp out of which Yobe registered 707 comprising of 592 males and 115 females. 1,203 goes to Jigawa comprising 815 males and 388 females.
