Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, a former Independent Non-Executive Director of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority and Non-Executive Director at the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO), has declared his intention to contest the Ajingi/Gaya/Albasu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Gaya made the declaration at the APC state headquarters shortly after submitting his notice of intent to vie for the party’s ticket, formally signalling his return to the race for the constituency he previously represented.
He said his decision was driven by a renewed commitment to public service and the need to accelerate development across the constituency, which he described as possessing vast but underutilised potential.
The former lawmaker, who served two terms between 2015 and 2023, pointed to his legislative experience and track record as key strengths, noting that his time in office provided him with a solid understanding of the needs and aspirations of his constituents.
“This exposure has equipped me with the tools to provide purposeful leadership and practical solutions to the challenges facing our constituency,” he said.
Gaya added that, if given the party’s ticket and elected, he would consolidate on his previous achievements while expanding development initiatives across Ajingi, Gaya, and Albasu local government areas, with a focus on infrastructure, education, and economic empowerment.
He also pledged to strengthen unity within the APC by promoting inclusive engagement with party stakeholders and grassroots members.
The former lawmaker expressed appreciation to party members and constituents for their continued support and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the collective interests of the constituency.
He further prayed for the progress of the party and the sustained development of the Ajingi/Gaya/Albasu Federal Constituency.
