The Governor, who said the adoption of a holistic approach by security agencies will provide a lasting solution to criminal activities in the country, urged  the Special Team from the Nigerian Defense Headquarters, Abuja, to include in their operations other states that shared boundary with Niger state.

“You will have to implore holistic approach to your operations, ensure that you cover parts of Niger as well as other neighbouring states like Zamfara and Kaduna States to bring an end to banditry and other criminal activities”.

He noted that the bandits come to the state from neighbouring states to unleash terror on border communities and go back, which he said was the main reason why there was a need for synergy between the affected states and the Nigerian Army.

He expressed optimism that, with the right resources, technology and manpower, banditry and other forms of  criminal elements could be put to rest in the state.

The Governor acknowledged that, since the Nigerian Army operation started in the state, significant progress has been recorded.

Governor Sani Bello commended the effort of the Chief of Defence Staff and other sister security agencies in the state for their effort towards curtailing criminal activities in the state.

Earlier, the Head of the Special Team, Air Vice Marshall Tunde Awoyoola said they were in the state on the directive of the Chief of Defence Staff following security report reaching them from the state.

Air Vice Marshall Tunde Awoyoola disclosed that more special forces would be deployed to Niger state and assured that the state will soon be rid-of of criminal elements.
