BANDITRY: Niger Govt applauds security agents,enjoins Citizens to thank them

Niger State Government has commended the conventional and non-conventional security agencies in the state for their resilience in the fight against banditry.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Umar stated this while briefing journalists on Security updates in the state, at the Government House Minna.

Mr. Umar who observed that there was relative peace in the state presently, also acknowledged that there are pockets of attacks in the same communities in Mashegu, Mariga, and Kontagora local government areas.

He assured that efforts would be sustained to ensure bandits are flushed out of the state completely for a safe society

“Inasmuch as we have recorded successes, we are also aware that threats still exist, Recently, we have begun to see attacks on the fridges of Mashegu Mariga and Kontagora local government areas. His Excellency has directed all the security agencies in the state to come out in full force in a matter of urgency and flush the bandits out.

While sympathizing with the family members of security personnel that paid the supreme price, those who got injured, and those that lost their sources of livelihood in the fight against banditry, the Commissioner stressed that their sacrifices will not go in vain.

The Commissioner further appreciated the support of Community leaders and other members of the society and urged them not to relent.

He also enjoined them to extend hands of love to the security personnel in their environment in appreciation of their efforts so far.

“His Excellency has also directed that all citizens should take time to thank any security personnel in their community for their efforts, even if it is a cup of water”.

On the celebration of Christmas and New Year, the Commissioner has assured Nigerlites of peaceful celebrations as there will be increased security visibility and patrols across the state.
