The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has secured the support of the British High Commission in its drive to digitise legacy records, some of which dated back to 1912.
This development was confirmed on Monday during a courtesy visit to the CAC headquarters in Abuja by a delegation from the British High Commission, led by Mr. Chris Okeke, Head of the Government Team.
Welcoming the delegation, the Registrar-General and CEO of the CAC, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, expressed appreciation for the partnership and described the digitisation initiative as a strategic move towards improved transparency, efficiency, and record preservation.
Mr. Okeke, in his remarks, stated that the visit was a follow-up to an earlier engagement held in November 2024. He commended the Registrar-General for the Commission’s recent compliance drive and its proactive collaboration with other regulatory agencies.
Also speaking, a member of the delegation, Mr. Jehanzeb Khan, emphasised that enforcement and compliance mechanisms are critical for enhancing business integrity and advancing anti-corruption efforts.
Magaji reiterated the Commission’s commitment to enhancing corporate transparency through beneficial ownership disclosures and monitoring of annual returns and other post-incorporation obligations. He added that the recent compliance drives to sister regulatory agencies were aimed at obtaining data on permits and licences issued to registered entities.
At the end of the meeting, a six-member team from the CAC was constituted to work closely with the British High Commission team to identify additional areas of collaboration and technical support.
