JUST IN: Appeal Court orders Multichoice to sublicense channels to Metro-digital

An Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has ordered MultiChoice to sub-license some of its channels to Metro-digital in line with the code of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC).   While delivering his judgement on Wednesday, Justice Olabode Adegbehingbe, dismissed the ruling of the lower court, which dismissed the suit of the Appellant, Metro-digital, despite the appealant proving the existence of the dispute between itself and the first respondent, MultiChoice.   Justice Adegbehingbe also directed the second respondent, NBC, to compel Multi-choice to follow the court order within…

BREAKING: Scores killed as building collapses in Lagos

Scores of civilians were reportedly feared dead in the wee hours of Wednesday after a building in the Onipanu area of Lagos State collapsed.   The collapsed building is said to be located at Oke Arin street, off Shyllon Ilupeju.   The incident occurred at about 1.07 am on Wednesday.   At the time of filing this report, Newsband cannot independently verify the number of people killed during the collapse.           More details follow….           Newsband  

BREAKING: Bandits Attack Buhari’s Convoy In Katsina

Breaking: Kuje Prison under Attack

Kuje Medium Prison on Tuesday night came under heavy bombardments by unknown terrorists, throwing the entire area Council into confusion.   The first explosion, a high capacity bomb, went off around 10.25pm. Breaking: Buhari sets to swear in Justice Ariwoola as CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to swear Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) today following the resignation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad on health grounds. Oyo- born Justice Ariwoola who is the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court will be sworn-in today by 2pm, according to competent sources. Senate passes bill to establish Chartered Risk Management Institute
