The Leader of World Harvest Ministries and Proprietress of Lekced International School, Bishop Dr. Kate Kawas, has called on Christians to embrace heartfelt and powerful praise as a potent weapon for spiritual victory, urging believers to make praise a regular part of their lives.
She made the call during the maiden edition of African Praise Sunday, held during the church’s Sunday worship service with the theme, “Let the High Praises of God Be in Our Mouth.”
The vibrant praise service, led by Minister Nene Olajide, was filled with joy, celebration, and exuberant worship as members of the congregation lifted songs of praise and danced in thanksgiving to God.
Delivering her message, Bishop Kawas drew her teaching from Psalm 149:6–8, describing the passage as a powerful declaration of the authority and victory available through praise.
“Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the nations, and punishments upon the people; To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written. Praise ye the LORD.”
According to her, the scripture demonstrates that praise is far more than an act of worship—it is a spiritual weapon capable of overcoming battles and bringing divine intervention.
To further illustrate her message, Bishop Kawas referenced 2 Chronicles 20:21, recounting how King Jehoshaphat appointed singers and worshippers to lead the army into battle. As they praised God, the Lord fought on their behalf and granted them victory over their enemies.
“Praise is the weapon of warfare,” she declared.
She urged Christians to move beyond seeing praise as mere entertainment, emphasizing its strategic role in spiritual warfare.
“We are not just dancing to be entertained but going for warfare,” she told the congregation.
Speaking prophetically, Bishop Kawas declared freedom and divine intervention over worshippers.
“Today, as we praise God, I see every captivity being set free, and God will fight all battles,” she proclaimed.
She also encouraged believers never to take God’s blessings for granted, reminding them to remain grateful for His daily protection and sustenance.
“We are sitting here strong and healthy. Do you not know what God has done for you?” she asked.
The maiden African Praise Sunday concluded with colourful cultural presentations representing Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, adding a rich display of unity, diversity, and thanksgiving to the celebration. The event left worshippers inspired to embrace praise not only as an expression of gratitude but also as a powerful instrument for spiritual victory.
