The Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, on Tuesday, June 4, 2025, commissioned the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Digital Industrial Park (DIP) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, reaffirming the Federal Government’s resolve to foster innovation and equip Nigerian youths with relevant digital skills.
The historic commissioning ceremony was graced by a host of distinguished dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun; Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida; Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salihu; Chairman, House Committee on Information and Technology, Hon. Stanley Adedeji Olajide; the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, HRM Oba Micheal Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo; and the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Mr. Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi.
In his remarks, Dr. Tijani emphasized the critical role digital infrastructure plays in transforming Nigeria’s economy. He described the DIP as a catalyst for technological advancement, skills development, and local innovation, noting that such infrastructure is essential in bridging the gap between academia and industry.
“The Digital Industrial Park is not just a physical structure; it is a platform for empowerment, innovation, and inclusive growth. It is designed to support the aspirations of young Nigerians by providing the tools, knowledge, and environment needed to thrive in the digital age,” Dr. Tijani stated.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, in his address, commended the NCC for choosing Ogun State as the location of the park, affirming his administration’s commitment to promoting a tech-driven economy and creating an enabling environment for youth-led innovation.
The Digital Industrial Park is envisioned to provide an enabling ecosystem for technology startups, research institutions, and investors. It will also offer hands-on training and foster collaboration among innovators, academia, and industry experts, further driving Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
With its strategic location and state-of-the-art facilities, the DIP in Abeokuta is expected to attract investment, generate employment, and position Ogun State as a digital innovation hub in Nigeria and beyond.
