The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has refuted reports alleging that the Police Service Commission (PSC) was denied access to its verification server, describing the claim as misleading and inaccurate.
In a statement issued on Thursday, June 5, 2025, and signed by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, the Commission clarified that all its verification service platforms remain fully functional and accessible to all authorised partners, including security agencies.
“The NIMC has granted verification access to all Nigerian Police formations for seamless National Identification Number (NIN) verification. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), PSC, and other security agencies have been enjoying uninterrupted verification services for over five years,” the statement noted.
Dr. Adegoke further stated that the NIMC has consistently provided top-tier verification services to support recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force as coordinated by the PSC. At no time, he emphasized, had there been any complaints or disruptions regarding NIN verification.
He explained that the ICT Department of the Nigeria Police Force actively manage the verification and integration services between the NIMC and all police formations, reinforcing a longstanding and efficient collaboration.
While confirming a recent restructuring of the framework guiding service provision to security agencies done in consultation with the Office of the National Security Adviser NIMC affirmed that the verification services remained available and operational.
The Commission suggested that any temporary disruption experienced by the PSC might stem from internal administrative matters, and reiterated its commitment to supporting all security stakeholders, provided agreed terms and conditions are respected.
“NIMC remains committed to providing flawless verification services for recruitment, security mapping, cybercrime control, and other security-related operations,” the statement concluded.
