In a move to deepen inter-agency collaboration and enhance national revenue performance, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, on Wednesday, 7 May 2025, received the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Shamsudeen Ogunjimi, at the Customs Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
During the visit, CGC Adeniyi highlighted the strategic importance of the Office of the Accountant-General in Nigeria’s fiscal system, described the meeting as timely and symbolic. He emphasised the commitment of the Customs Service to supporting the nation’s economic stability through innovative revenue strategies and operational discipline.
“We understand how critical revenue generation is to the nation, and we are doing our part. With over 70% growth in revenue recorded by the Service before the end of 2024, we have demonstrated our commitment to supporting the government’s financial sustainability,” Adeniyi said.
The Customs boss congratulated the AGF on his recent appointment and welcomed his proposal to integrate personnel from both agencies in joint training programmes aimed at strengthening capacity and inter-agency cooperation.
On his part, AGF Shamsudeen Ogunjimi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and commended the proactive leadership of the Customs boss. He described the meeting as the beginning of a more robust partnership focused on transparency, accountability, and capacity development.
“This collaboration has just started, and I assure you it will be robust. I propose that some of your officers be engaged in our training programmes to strengthen institutional cooperation,” the AGF stated.
He reiterated the commitment of his office to fostering stronger linkages across public financial institutions to build a more accountable and efficient fiscal system.
