The Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force have reiterated their commitment to deeper inter-agency collaboration aimed at improving national security and addressing emerging threats across the country.
This was disclosed during a strategic meeting between the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the Inspector-General of Police, Disu Olatunji, held at the Customs Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
Speaking at the engagement, Adeniyi congratulated the new Police chief on his appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership capacity. He stressed the importance of stronger synergy among security agencies, particularly in tackling evolving security challenges and safeguarding national interests.
According to him, enhanced cooperation between the Customs and Police would improve intelligence sharing, operational efficiency, and coordinated responses to threats affecting national stability.
“The NCS stands with the NPF in these challenging times. We will continue to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and security across the country. Together, we can strengthen the safety and stability of our nation,” he said.
In his response, the IGP commended the warm reception and described the visit as a step toward deepening the long-standing partnership between both agencies. He noted that sustained collaboration among personnel would significantly improve collective security operations nationwide.
The meeting ended with renewed assurances from both agencies to strengthen coordination, enhance intelligence-driven policing, and work collectively toward maintaining peace, stability, and national development across Nigeria.
