Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced plans to commence the nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel, beginning 15th August 2025, in a strategic move to transform Nigeria’s fuel distribution landscape.
The company revealed that the distribution will cover marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecom operators, aviation firms, and other major fuel consumers. To enhance efficiency and nationwide reach, Dangote Refinery has deployed 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers, with logistics support provided at no extra cost to buyers.
As part of this initiative, the refinery is also setting up CNG booster stations supported by a fleet of over 100 CNG tankers to facilitate seamless supply across the country.
According to the management, this programme aims to eliminate distribution bottlenecks, promote sustainability, reduce fuel costs, and support Nigeria’s economic development. The scheme is designed to ensure equitable access to affordable fuel, improve energy availability, and reduce inflation through lower production costs, particularly in manufacturing and telecommunications.
To support bulk buyers, Dangote Refinery will offer a credit facility: customers purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres can access an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, backed by a bank guarantee.
“This initiative will revitalise dormant petrol stations, create jobs, stimulate SMEs, enhance government revenue, and strengthen fuel access in rural and underserved areas,” the statement added.
The project aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and was made possible in part by the Federal Government’s Naira-for-Crude scheme, which has helped stabilise fuel supply amid global volatility.
