Edo Deputy Gov, Philip Shaibu dumps PDP, returns to APC

The Deputy Governor, who returned to the APC in Benin, the state capital, on Saturday alongside prominent members of the Dan Orbih-led Legacy Group of the PDP, said he was back to add value to the party.

He said, “On behalf of the Legacy Group, I announce our movement to the APC. We have come to add value to the party.

“It is time to take back our state. We will not talk too much because action will speak for us. We are not afraid. We are ready to move forward.

“We, the homeboys, are ready to take our state back through the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.

“We are not troublemakers, but if it comes, we will use it to rub our body, and we move on.”

Shaibu got to the venue at about 2:08 pm and walked straight to where former Governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, was seated and knelt before him, which drew applause from party supporters.

SaharaReporters on Friday reported that Shaibu announced that he was currently unofficially a member of the APC.

Shaibu, who made this known on Friday while featuring on Arise News Television’s Morning Show programme, had said that his spirit left the PDP long ago but had not officially declared his defection to the APC.

According to him, he had not done so because he was informed based on court declarations that 27 Rivers State lawmakers who defected to APC from the PDP in 2023 were still members of the PDP because they still had the party’s card with them.
