The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has fully automated the authentication and evaluation of academic credentials in a sweeping reform aimed at improving transparency, strengthening data integrity, and enhancing public service delivery.
In a statement issued on 15 April 2026 and signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, the Ministry said the initiative is part of its commitment to the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda and the deployment of technology-driven solutions to improve efficiency within the education sector.
Under the new arrangement, all applications for authentication and evaluation of academic credentials will now be processed strictly online via the official verification portal: .
Applicants are required to register on the portal, upload all relevant supporting documents, and also liaise with their awarding institutions to ensure that academic transcripts are sent directly from official institutional email addresses to for verification and processing.
The Ministry stressed that physical visits to its offices are no longer required, as the entire process will now be conducted electronically.
It noted that the digitised system is expected to simplify procedures, reduce processing time, and further strengthen the credibility and reliability of academic credential verification in Nigeria.
