Edo State Governor, His Excellency Monday Okpebholo, has extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Edo State, Nigeria, and across the world as they mark the holy festival of Eid al-Adha.
In a goodwill message released on Friday, Governor Okpebholo emphasized the spiritual depth of Eid al-Adha, describing it as a period that highlights sacrifice, obedience, and unwavering devotion to Almighty Allah. He urged Muslims to reflect on the timeless values embodied in the celebration compassion, generosity, and submission to the will of God.
“As we commemorate Eid al-Adha, let us be reminded of the spirit of sacrifice exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham),” Governor Okpebholo stated. “This significant occasion calls for us to deepen our faith, uphold the virtues of peaceful coexistence, and extend a hand of fellowship to our neighbors, irrespective of their religious beliefs.”
The Governor also used the occasion to advocate for sustained peace and unity among the people of Edo State. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting inclusiveness and safeguarding the rights and freedoms of all citizens, regardless of religious background.
“My administration remains dedicated to creating an Edo State where peace, progress, and prosperity are accessible to all,Let us use this period to pray for the continued peace, security, and development of our state and nation.”he added.
Governor Okpebholo further encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly, observe safety protocols, and show kindness to the less privileged by sharing the blessings of the season.
On behalf of the government and the people of Edo State, Governor Okpebholo wished the Muslim faithful a blessed and memorable Eid al-Adha.
