President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to pray for the military and security agencies who continue to make sacrifices to safeguard the nation, especially in the face of terrorism and banditry.
Speaking after observing the Eid-el-Adha prayers at the Eid Ground in Dodan Barracks, Lagos, the President emphasized the need for compassion, unity, and support for the less privileged.
“We should remember to pray and give to those who are very vulnerable in the spirit of the season. We must unite, remain our brothers’ keeper, and show love to everyone,” Tinubu said.
“We must also pray hard for our troops. They are making sacrifices to keep us safe despite the challenges of terrorism and banditry.”
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Suleiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nola, urged Nigerians to emulate the sacrificial spirit of Prophet Ibrahim by serving their communities and the nation selflessly.
“To achieve the Nigeria of our dreams, we must rise above tribal and ethnic sentiments. Whether Igbo, Yoruba, or Hausa, unity is key to national progress,” the Imam noted.
Several top government officials and dignitaries joined the President at the prayer ground, including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; and former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola.
Also present were National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu; Group Chief Executive of Oando, Wale Tinubu; and President Tinubu’s close ally, Prof. Shaffideen Amuwo.
