President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has felicitated with Nigerian Muslims and the global Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to uphold the values of sacrifice, devotion, and unity for national progress.
In a statement released on Thursday, June 5, 2025, the President said the Islamic festival represented a time of deep spiritual reflection and an opportunity to demonstrate the core virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and taught by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
“While this festival is marked with joy and celebration, its true significance lies much deeper. To truly honour Eid, we must embody its core values sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness,” Tinubu stated.
He called on Nigerians to remain resilient, tolerant, and compassionate, stressing that the ongoing reforms by his administration were beginning to yield results. He assured citizens that better days were ahead.
“Though the journey has not been easy, and some doubted our direction, the resilience of public and private sector leaders, along with the steadfast support of most Nigerians, is yielding results. I assure you that the toughest days are behind us. We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity,” the President said.
He acknowledged that while economic recovery is a gradual process, key indicators are now moving in the right direction. Tinubu reiterated that the Renewed Hope Agenda remains focused on transforming lives and achieving sustainable development for all Nigerians.
On a somber note, the President expressed condolences to victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa, Niger State, which claimed lives and destroyed properties. He called on citizens to support affected communities and offer prayers for the deceased.
“As we celebrate today, let us also remember the victims of the heavy flooding in Mokwa. Let us pray for the repose of their souls and support the government’s efforts to bring relief to survivors,” he added.
Tinubu also used the occasion to call for prayers for Nigeria’s front-line security officers and leaders at all levels, urging unity and a renewed sense of purpose as the nation navigates its path toward peace and development.
“As we observe this Eid, let us dedicate this sacred celebration to seeking God’s guidance and blessings for our country,” he said.
The President concluded by wishing all Nigerians a joyful and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir, prayed that Almighty Allah accept all acts of worship and shower His blessings upon the nation.
