The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, John Owan Enoh, is in Niger State today, Friday, May 1, 2026, for a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) and enhancing export development.
The visit formed part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to promote non-oil exports, stimulate small-scale industries, and deepen industrial growth across the country. During the engagement, the minister is expected to interact with SME operators, commodity exporters, and key stakeholders in the industrial and investment sectors.
A major highlight of the visit will be discussions around shea butter production, with emphasis on value addition, processing, and expanding export opportunities within the global market.
Enoh will also hold high-level meetings with officials of the Niger State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, alongside agencies under its supervision, to explore collaborative frameworks for boosting industrial productivity, enterprise development, and investment promotion in the state.
The visit is expected to further position Niger State as a growing hub for agro-processing and export-oriented economic activities under the leadership of Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago.
In addition, the minister will join the governor in receiving Nigeria’s First Lady during her scheduled visit to the state on May 2, 2026.
Observers said the engagement underscored the commitment of both federal and state governments to fostering inclusive economic growth, empowering local industries, and creating sustainable opportunities for entrepreneurs and exporters.
