The Great Ife Alumni Association has elected a new set of global officers to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years, with Barrister Leye Bunmi Falode emerging as the Global President.
Falode, alongside other officers, was elected during the 26th Biennial Convention of the association, which held at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State. The three-day convention brought together delegates from various branches across Nigeria and from the diaspora.
Other elected officers included Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media and Public Relations at the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), who was elected as the Global Publicity Secretary. Mr. Alabi Adeyemi Joshua emerged as Vice President (North), while Dr. Olumuyiwa Kayode Ojo was elected Vice President (South West), and Dr. Johnson Bankole Olumola emerged as Vice President (South South/South East).
Chief Omole Joseph Adewale was elected as Vice President for Africa. The position of Global General Secretary went to Mrs. Christianah Busayo Omisakin, while Pharm. Femi Ogunmade was elected as Global Social Welfare Secretary. Others include Mr. Fatai Moshood as Global Treasurer, Dr. Collins Ailoje Igaga as Global Financial Secretary, and Festus Madu Esq as Global Legal Adviser.
Also elected were Awodeji Adeniyi Esq Olanrewaju as Deputy Legal Adviser; Dr. Fatoke Babatunde Abiodun as Global Editor-in-Chief; and Mrs. Adetutu Febisola Victoria as First Assistant Secretary. Mrs. Bosede Oyesanmi was elected as Global Internal Auditor, while Engr. Nureni Kayode Alaaya became the Second Assistant Secretary.
The new Global Ex-Officio members include Dr. Akinjogbin Israel (South West), Esv. Jamiu Saibu (North), and Mrs. Okhirueh Abosede Onosen-Iguan (South East/South South).
Barrister Leye Falode is a distinguished alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, where he obtained all his academic degrees, including a Bachelor of Education in History (1989), Master of Public Administration (MPA), LL.B (2002), and LL.M (2012). He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Law.
Falode has a wealth of experience in public service, legal practice, and hospitality. He served as Senior Special Assistant to former Governors of Osun State and was a former Chairman of the Osun State Rent Tribunal. He is the Principal Partner of L.B. Falode & Co. (a law firm) and the CEO of El Bee Grandeur Hotel and Lounge in Osogbo, Osun State.
Before his election as Global President, Falode had served the Great Ife Alumni Association in various capacities, including as Chairman of the Osogbo Branch (2016–2020), Vice President (South West), Chairman of the Convention Organising Committee, and Member of the Alumni Centre Management Committee.
The newly elected officers are expected to build on the achievements of their predecessors and further promote unity, development, and support among alumni members across the globe. Their tenure also aligns with the association’s continued commitment to the growth of its alma mater Obafemi Awolowo University and the welfare of its members.
