FCT Police Dismiss Viral Claims of Herdsmen Influx in Gwagwalada

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging an influx of Fulani herdsmen into Anguwan Dobi in Gwagwalada Area Council, describing the claims as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary panic among residents.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said police operatives were immediately deployed to the community and adjoining areas after the videos and reports surfaced online.

According to the Command, security personnel conducted assessments and investigations within the affected area but found no unusual gathering, suspicious movement, or individuals matching the descriptions contained in the viral reports.

The police, however, noted that investigations were still ongoing to fully ascertain the circumstances surrounding the claims, while assuring residents that developments within the area were being closely monitored.

The Command urged residents of Anguwan Dobi, Gwagwalada and neighbouring communities to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities without fear or apprehension.

Reaffirming its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the FCT, the police also advised members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
