In furtherance of Nigeria police effort to combat crime and rid FCT of criminal elements, the FCT Police Command following simultaneous and coordinated police operation across the Federal Capital Territory has smashed and arrested some members of notorious criminal syndicates.
The FCT Commissioner Police, Bala Ciroma stated this at a press briefing in Abuja. Bala Ciroma assured members of the public that the Command onslaught against criminal elements will be a continuous exercise until they are flushed out.
He FCT Police Command has determined to strengthen its relationship with members of the public, he however added that suggestion boxes have been strategically placed at Berger roundabout, Area 1 roundabout and Federal Secretariat to receive suggestions, observations and complaints from the public.
Members of the public with observations or complaints can also relay same to the CP FCT Monitoring and Mentoring Unit (MMU) on [email protected] or call and send text messages to 07064328222 and 08123608058. This initiative is part of effort to get feedback from the public about activities of the Command and how it can be improved upon to ensure quality service delivery to the public.

In a summary 47 suspects were arrested while the following recovery were made: 7 Firearms, 3 Cars, 4 Ammuniations, 3 Axes, 1 MasterKey, 3 Motorcyles, 242 Stolen Wrappers, some laptops and phones and suspected Indian Hemp.
ARREST OF FAKE SOLDIERS/ RECOVERY OF DANGEROUS WEAPONS
On 20th August, 2018 at about 0142hrs Police operatives on stop and search duty at Galadimawa roundabout arrested two fake soldiers suspected to be members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate that have been terrorising motorists and residents along the axis. The suspects, Idongesit James ‘m’ 25 years and Monday Ezekiel ‘m’ 20 years who were arrested in military uniform had in their possession two dagger, one axe, five wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, different ATM cars and charms. Other suspects arrested with them are Hamza Maman ‘m’ and Hanafi Abubakar ‘m’. Also arrested is one Amos Christopher ‘m’ 24 years who is their accomplice. As soon as investigations is concluded, the suspects will be arraigned in court.
ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECTS
The Command has recorded another milestone in its fight against crime with the arrest of one Alfred Leonard ‘m’ 29 years and Samson Agbo ‘m’ 37 years who conspired and murdered one Michael Iorkohol ‘m’ 47 years.
The deceased was initially reported missing by his family at Karu Division on 17th July, 2018 at about 1930hrs. However, following the circumstances surrounding his mysterious disappearance, one Alfred Leonard who was last sighted with the deceased was arrested at Kaduna after discreet investigation. The suspect confessed during interrogation that he conspired with one Samson Agbo (who has been arrested) to murder the deceased whose carcass was recovered from the bush at Piyako Community. Items recovered from the scene included the deceased’s wrist watch, belt, pieces of his shirt and his palm sandals. As soon as investigations is concluded, the suspects will be arraigned in court.

RECOVERY OF FIREARM
On 5th August, 2018 following a tip off, Police operatives from Bwari Division arrested five suspects while vandalising telecommunication mast at sabon Bwari. One locally made pistol, one Siena Bus, one live ammunition, spanners and a generator exhaust (removed from the generator attached to the mast) were recovered from the suspects as exhibits. The suspects arrested are: Celestine Omale ‘m’ 25 years, Simeon Jeremiah ‘m’ 23 years, Momoh Christopher ‘m’ 24 years, Daniel Boniface Alhaji ‘m’ 24 years and Shola Akinsheye ‘m’ 38 years.
Similarly, One Mustapha Abdullahi 18 years has been arrested by Police operatives at Gwarimpa while vandalising an electric transformer. The suspect who confessed to the crime stated that his cohort escaped on sighting the police operatives. Exhibits recovered from him include: vandalised armoured cables, two hack-saw and one iron bar. Investigation of both cases is on- going. Suspect and his cohorts will soon be arraigned in court.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/ RECOVERY OF FIREARM
On 3rd August, 2018 following a distress call, police operatives from Karu Division arrest one Obiora Christian 24 years and Joshua Okpaluwa while trying to escape after robbing a sales girl at a supermarket of her infinix hot phone and the cash sum of seventy thousand naira. Revelations made by the suspects during interrogation led to the arrest of one Eze Chime 30 years who was identified by the suspects as their receiver. One English pistol and one live ammunition were recovered from the suspects as exhibit. Investigation is on-going.

On 15th August, 2018 at about 0300hrs Police operatives on patrol arrested one Chisom Eze ‘m’ of Gauraka along Zuba/Kubwa express road in possession one locally made pistol and one live ammunition. He is believed to be among the hoodlums attacking motorists in the area. Other exhibits recovered from the suspect include one military singlet, a pair of booth and two gsm phones. Investigation is ongoing.

On 31st July, 2018 Police operatives following discreet investigation arrested three armed robbery suspects who broke into a house at Ungwan Sanyi in Kuje town and robbed the occupants of the cash sum of ten thousand naira (N10,000), two laptops, four phones and other valuables. The suspects, Obadiah Isiaku ‘m 22 years, Chinonso Udenze ‘m’ 23 years and Ikenna Sunday ‘m 22 years were arrested at Ungwan Mada in possession of the following exhibits used for the robbery operation: an improvised gun, a pair scissors and a screw driver. One Idris Jibrin ‘m’ 30 years has also been arrested as the receiver of the robbed items; recovered from his custody are two phones and one laptop that were sold to him by the suspects. Effort has been intensified to arrest the leader of the gang who is presently on the run.

On 6th August, 2018 at about 0430hrs acting on tip-off, Police operatives arrest one Yusuf Ibrahim ‘m’ 21 years and Auwal Umar ‘m’ 25 years who specialise in attacking their victims with dangerous weapons and dispossessing them of cash, phones and other valuables. The suspects operate around Kubwa and its environs. Similarly, one Jibrin Ismail ‘m’ 18 years has also been arrested at Kubwa for attacking his victims with dangerous weapon and robbing of their phones and other valuables. Suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF ONE CHANCE ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBIT
On 7th August, 2018 following a tip off, police operatives from Lugbe Division arrested one Eze Nwmwo ‘m’ 75years, Peter Isioma ‘m’ 40 years and Blessing Anaba Ayomide ‘F’ 32 years while trying to escape after a failed one chance robbery operation. The suspects were identified by one of their victims at a bus stop in Lubge while trying to lure another unsuspecting victim. The suspects operate in a red volks wagon saloon car with reg. no. AP 366 GDD which has been recovered as exhibit. Investigation is on-going.
ARREST OF CAR THIEF/RECOVERY OF EXHIBIT
On 14th August, 2018 at about 1345hrs Police operatives from Wuse Division on routine patrol in Wuse market arrested one Chika Anozie ‘m’ while trying to steal a Maroon Colour Nissan Almera car with reg. no. EF 60 KRD from where it was parked. One master key, car battery and stereo were recovered from the suspects the suspect who is an ex-convict.
ARREST OF MOTORCYCLE ROBBERS/
RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 6 August, 2018 Police operatives on stop and search duty at Dakwa arrested one Ismaila Alhassan 23 years and Rabiu Auwal 27 years with a motorcycle suspected to have been stolen. The suspects confessed during interrogation that the motorcycle was robbed from its owner at Kaduna state. According to the suspects, they rob motorcycles from Kaduna and bring them to Abuja to sale. One Bajaj motorcycle and one knife was recovered from them as exhibit. Investigation is on-going.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTISTS/
RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
In 11th August, 2018 police operatives from Kubwa Division arrested some notorious cultists who have been terrorising Kubwa and its environs. The suspects were arrested after they went on rampage and were attacking innocent persons at a relaxation spots in Kubwa with dangerous weapons. The suspects arrested are: Ogbonna Chukwuemeka ‘m’ 22 years, Nelson Kelechi 23 years, Momodu Abdullateef 23 years, Wilfred Benjamin 19 years, Ibrahim Kamarudeen 23 years, Razak Agbola 23 years, Daniel Aba 19 years, Anyaoha Daniel 20 years, Celestine Okoliko 23 years, Salaudeen Tajudeen 23 years, Ikpomwonsa Osas 23 years and Emmanuel Abidemi 23 years all male. Exhibits recovered from the suspects are: 3 cutlasses, two axes and charms. The suspects belong to Vikins, Young Mafia Cult (YMC) and Black Skull confraternity. Suspects will be arraigned in court.
ARREST OF THIEVES/ RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 22nd June, 2018 following discreet investigation Police operatives arrested one Jibrin Yusuf ‘m’ 25 years, Jamilu Ibrahim ‘m’ 38 years and Rilwanu Mohammed ‘m’ 20 years for breaking into a textile shop at Abaji and stole a large quantity of wrappers. Two hundred and forty-two (242) pairs of wrappers have been recovered from the suspects as exhibits. As soon as investigations is concluded, the suspects will be arraigned in court.
ARREST OF NOTORIOUS THIEVES
On 11th August, 2018 police operatives arrested three suspects who usually disguised as journalists to steal cash, phones and other valuables from the pocket of guests at public gatherings. The suspects who operate mostly at places of worship and event centres where you have large gathering of important personalities were arrested at a church in Asokoro. The arrested suspects are: Kolawole Akin ‘m’ 50 years, Rasheed Kareem ‘m’ 40 years and Isah Ibrahim ‘m’ 51 years. Investigation is on-going.
CP Bala Ciroma further assured members of the public that the command has made adequate security arrangements that will cover Eid praying grounds and recreational centers during the forthcoming Eid-el Kabir celebrations. He then wished all FCT residents a blissful Eid-el Kabir in advance.
