The Federal Government has commenced a nationwide inspection of key infrastructure projects, beginning with the North West region, in a renewed push to ensure quality delivery, transparency, and timely completion under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Federal Ministry of Works, in a statement signed by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed, said the exercise commenced along the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Highway corridor on Thursday as part of a broader assessment of ongoing federal projects across the country.
The inspection team, led by the Engineers’ Representative, Engr. Chukwuma Kalu, assessed the completed 108-kilometre stretch from Tungan-Maje in the Federal Capital Territory to Jere in Kaduna State. Engr. Kalu confirmed that the section has been fully delivered, while noting that work on Section II is ongoing and scheduled for completion by November. He described the corridor as increasingly becoming a major economic route, enhancing mobility and boosting trade activities across the region.
The Senior Project Manager of Infiouest International Limited, Mr. Robert Turner, commended the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure development, particularly acknowledging the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for the progress recorded on the project. He also revealed that about 80 per cent of the workforce on the project are Nigerians, describing it as a strong demonstration of government’s local content policy and capacity-building drive.
The delegation also inspected the Nnamdi Azikiwe–Kaduna Western Bypass, a 21.47-kilometre dual carriageway initially awarded in 2021 but which has recorded accelerated progress since 2023. The project is expected to ease traffic congestion within Kaduna metropolis while stimulating economic activities in adjoining communities.
According to the Ministry, the nationwide inspection tour, which spanned multiple states in the North West, is aimed at strengthening accountability, deepening transparency, and providing stakeholders with firsthand assessment of federal infrastructure projects.
The Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Mr. Sunday Dare, noted that the Renewed Hope National Media Tour will also cover rail infrastructure, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and renewable energy projects across the country. He added that participating media representatives will independently document progress and assess the impact of government interventions.
The tour is expected to continue across strategic infrastructure sites nationwide in line with the Federal Government’s development and reform agenda.
