The Federal Ministry of Education has lauded the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for donating 140,000 copies of seven educational books for distribution to public school libraries across the country.
Receiving the books on behalf of the ministry, the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the donation as a significant investment in literacy, values-based education and the overall development of Nigerian children.
According to the minister, the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and complements the ministry’s drive to promote quality, inclusive and learner-centred education.
The books, produced through the First Lady’s partnership with the Merck Foundation under the Renewed Hope Initiative, cover topics including girl-child education, child protection, healthy living, gender-based violence, reproductive health, social responsibility and character development.
Alausa said the publications would serve as practical educational resources to enhance literacy, critical thinking, empathy and responsible citizenship among students. He also pledged that the books would be effectively distributed to public school libraries nationwide.
The ministry described the donation as a lasting legacy that would strengthen Nigeria’s reading culture while supporting the development of responsible, productive and globally competitive citizens.
