“This worrisome reality requires decisive actions. We need all hands on deck to change this unpalatable narrative and development. At FOMWAN, we will continue to embark on more sensitization campaigns and orientations on the need to educate our Girls.”
“This is another menace that must be addressed. There’s the need for everyone to support the Government’s war against drug abuse as it is having negative toll on our young population. As a faith based Association, we are advising Government to put measures in place to prevent sales and abuse of hard drugs and substances, while there should be adequate provisions for treatment and rehabilitation of victims of drug abuse”, Rafia Sanni stressed.
Speaking on On the 2021 Day of the Girl Child, Hajiya Sanni said the theme for this year’s celebration (Digital Generation: Our Generation) was apt.
She noted that survey which put the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria as 13.2 million is disturbing, noting that it is more worrisome that the Girl Child accounts for 60% of the total number.
The National body of the Association therefore noted that the Country is in dire need of continuous prayers, assuring that the Association will intensify its supplications to Allah to help rid the nation of socio-economic and other forms of problems bedeviling it.
The Association also vowed to embark on more programs that will further promote and protect the interest, welfare and aspirations of its members.
“This will not be a herculean task to accomplish, if members in all branches across the Country work in synergy. Hence, we are calling for cooperation of all our members”, Hajiya Sanni pleaded.
According to her, the new National Executive Council is equally poised to promote teamwork, accountability, transparency and above all ensure consultation with all stakeholders.
