The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the death of Ambassador Beatrice Uwani Danladi, a distinguished career diplomat and Director of the Southern African Affairs Division, who passed away on May 29, 2026, after a prolonged illness.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Ministry described Ambassador Danladi’s death as a significant loss to Nigeria’s diplomatic community and the Foreign Service.
Born in Kaduna State in 1974, Ambassador Danladi graduated in Political Science from the University of Abuja before joining the Nigerian Foreign Service in 2001. Throughout her career, she was known for her dedication, professionalism, humility, and unwavering commitment to national service.
The late diplomat served in several Nigerian missions abroad, including Cairo, Egypt; London, United Kingdom; and Madrid, Spain. In recognition of her outstanding service, she was appointed Ambassador-in-situ by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023.
A Fellow of the National Defence College, Abuja, Ambassador Danladi earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and associates through her meticulous approach to duty and her unassuming disposition.
The Ministry noted that her passing represents a profound loss to the institution and the diplomatic corps, describing her as an exemplary officer whose contributions to Nigeria’s foreign policy and international engagements will be remembered.
The Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, associates, and the Government of Taraba State, while praying for the peaceful repose of her soul and strength for those she left behind.
Ambassador Danladi is survived by family members, colleagues, and a legacy of dedicated service to Nigeria.
