Hon Ogunwuyi Donates Desks, Chairs, Past Questions to Schools

The ancient city of Ogbomoso on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday was a beehive of educational activities as Member representing Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire Federal Constituency in the Federal House Of Representatives, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi made another germane contributions to the educational sector of the Land of Valiants.

Hon Ogunwuyi in his bid to compliment efforts of the state government on quality education,donated notebooks, modern classroom desks and chairs to various public schools as well as series of past questions to Senior Secondary Certificate Examination candidates respectively in his constituency.

The beneficiary schools for the notebooks were Saja Baptist Basic School, Oke-Owode area, ADS Basic Primary School, Oke-Ado area, Orioke Baptist Basic Primary School, Apaake area, Kajola Community Basic Primary School, Kajola area, Ijeru Baptist Basic Primary School, Oja Akande area, Molete D.C School 2, Molete area, Baale Yaku Community Basic Primary School, Yaku area, Oloka Baptist Basic Primary School, Oriire, Fedegbo/Olokiti Community Basic Primary School, Oriire,Bolorunduro/Elesun Community Basic Primary School, Oriire, L.A Basic Primary School Ahoro Esinele, Oriire, Alaropo Nla Baptist Basic Primary School, Oriire, etc, all in Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire local governments.

In addition to creating a conducive environment for learning for the students in Ogbomoso, Nurudeen Basic Primary School, Ikuye area, Ebenezer Baptist Basic Primary School, Aguodo area, Saja Baptist Basic Primary School, Oke-Owode area, The Apostolic Basic Primary School, Olopemarun area, Baale Yaku Community Basic Primary School, Yaku area, Ayegun Basic Primary School Ayegun area, Methodist Basic Primary School, Arowomole area, C.A.C Community Basic Primary School, Obamo Oriire, Igbooran Community Basic Primary School, Orire, to mention but few, also benefited from modern school desks and chairs donated by the Federal House member.

However, the 2nd edition of Ogunwuyi Education Support programme event in conjunction with the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and the Federation of Ogbomoso Students’ Union (FOGSU) national body took place yesterday.

The event was held inside Ogunwuyi’s Constituency office premises at Jagun Agbosoye White House, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The event was attended by the amiable wife of the Federal legislator,
Mrs. Oluwaseye Ogunwuyi,who represented her husband at the occasion,also at the event were Hon. Adekunle Rafiu ‘Tunji, the former minority leader of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Nigerian Union of Teachers Chairman Ogbomoso South, Comrade (Prince) Sunday Adaramola, NUT Chairman Ogbomoso North, Comrade Taiwo Adewale, ANCONPSS Ogbomoso Zone Chairman who is equally the NUT Chairman in Oriire and CODEK Chairman for Ogbomoso, Oyo and Oke Ogun zone as well as the principal of Community High School, Obamo in Oriire local government, Comrade Joseph Popoola, LGUBEA Secretaries in Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire local governments, FOGSU National President and FOGSU Kotangora Chapter President with their executive members, Principals of the beneficiary schools, All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmen and stakeholders in the three local government areas and some other distinguished personalities.

Honourable Segun Ogunwuyi in his speech, which was delivered by his wife Mrs. Oluwaseye Ogunwuyi, disclosed that the gesture of the distribution of notebooks, desks, chairs as well as the series of the comprehensive past questions which cover 29years were to compliment the effort of the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi at creating a good environment for learning, ensuring good performance of the students and to enjoy quality education in the state.

“In a bid to achieve these, students must be provided with basic materials to assist them, and state government alone cannot do it, hence, the lawmaker’s decision to distribute these to our students in this constituency”, Hon Ogunwuyi added.

According to the lawmaker , the donations were little ways of giving back to the society from what the society has provided for him as a lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire Federal Constituency, he said the responsibility of creating enabling environment for youths to develop rests on everyone.

He added that quality education remain the only means of giving younger ones lasting legacy and a means to be self-reliant in the future.

“Part of our commitment to education in this constituency was to drastically improve the performance of our students in the various examinations.”
Ogunwuyi declared.

The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT Ogbomoso South zone, Comrade Sunday Adaramola commended the donor for his usual kind gesture and called on public servants to emulate Ogunwuyi in their respective constituencies.

The FOGSU National President Comrade Ayanyinka Olusegun Olusanjo who is also known as OBJ, lauded Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi for changing the way people perceived politics from a means of serving one’s family instead of serving the people, called on politicians in the state most especially in Ogbomoso , to join hands with the current administration in the state with a view of making the education sector great.

He said education in the Land of Valiants most especially Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire local governments has received a tremendous amount of attention since the emergence of Hon Ogunwuyi. .

Hon. Adekunle Rafiu ‘Tunji, a former minority leader of the Oyo state House of Assembly also urged the benefitted students to face their studies to become great men and women in no distant future and shun acts capable of hampering their vision in life.

One of the beneficiaries from Ogbomoso High School, Akanni Bolanle disclosed that the way to appreciate the gift was to concentrate on their studies and come out in flying colours in their exams.
