The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has inaugurated a Joint Technical Committee on Strategic Collaboration with the Nigeria Correctional Service as part of efforts to strengthen rehabilitation and reintegration programmes across the country.

Speaking during the inauguration held at the ministry’s conference room in Abuja on Wednesday, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Olubunmi Olusanya, said the initiative is designed to deepen inter-agency cooperation and promote sustainable reintegration efforts within the nation’s correctional system.
Olusanya noted that the collaboration would help improve rehabilitation programmes for inmates and support broader government efforts aimed at social inclusion, human development and poverty reduction.
The committee is expected to develop strategic frameworks and coordinated approaches that will enhance the welfare, rehabilitation and post-custodial reintegration of inmates nationwide.
