The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed Saturday, June 28, 2025, for the conduct of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise.
A total of 96,838 candidates are expected to sit for the rescheduled exam, comprising 5,096 spill-over candidates and those who failed biometric verification during the main exam. Also included are 91,742 candidates who were absent from both the main and resit examinations and have been granted a special dispensation to participate.
The mop-up will be held in 183 designated centres across the country, while some candidates will be placed on standby pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
In a statement signed by JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Board disclosed that 113 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres implicated in infractions during the main, resit, and mock exams have been suspended or delisted for technical deficiencies and sharp practices.
Some examination towns have also been deactivated due to integrity concerns. Affected candidates will be reassigned to nearby examination towns, and the Board has appealed for their understanding.
JAMB commended the State Security Service (SSS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their role in the ongoing investigation of identity theft and exam malpractice syndicates. Several individuals have been arrested, including some JAMB officials, school proprietors, professional exam takers, and tutorial centre operators.
The mop-up exercise will also serve as an opportunity to apprehend more impersonators, particularly current undergraduates caught writing exams on behalf of others. According to the Board, the institutions of such students are being notified to invoke disciplinary actions, including expulsion, in line with the Examination Malpractice Act, 1999.
The first session of the examination is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am, and candidates are advised to arrive at least an hour before the commencement time.
Eligible candidates are expected to begin printing their examination notification slips from Monday, June 23, 2025, via the JAMB website.
