Jos Mining Tragedy: Wase condoles with victims’ families, urges best practices

Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Hon Ahmed Idris Wase, has commiserated with the families of those who died in a mining site in Zawan community of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Umar Muhammad Puma, Wase also condoled with the people and Government of plateau State over the unfortunate accident, and prayed for the repose of the souls of deceased persons.

Wase also called on the state and the federal government to ensure compliance with best practices in the mining sector to forestall reoccurrence of such incident.

While wishing the survivors a quick recovery, the Deputy Speaker added: “I share the grief of this calamity and I pray that the Almighty God will grant the souls of the departed eternal rest.”

The Deputy Speaker also warned against illegal mining which he said put the lives of the people in danger, adding that this usually leads to loss of lives and government revenue.
