The Kano State House of Assembly has passed a bill into law for the creation of second-class Emirates in the state.
The house gave an expeditious hearing to the bill on Tuesday when it resumed plenary.
After the second and third reading of the bill, the Deputy speaker, Muhammad Bello Butubutu, moved for the adoption and passage.
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, who presided over the plenary hailed the bill.
The new second-class emirates to be created include:
Rano Emirate: Rano- Bunkure, Kibiya
Karaye Emirate: Karaye- Rogo
Gaya Emirate: Gaya- Ajingi, Albasu
This is coming months after the House passed the Kano Emirates Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 which gave the governor the power to depose Aminu Ado Bayero as Kano Emir and reappoint Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The law also reversed the creation of the four emirates of Bichi, Rano Karaye, and Gaya.
