KEBBI STATE, WAMCO TO COLLABORATE IN DAIRY PRODUCTION, WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

The Executive Governor of Kebbi State,Sen.Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on the Thursday was at the production plant of Dairy Giant,FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC,located in Ogba,Lagos State.The administration of Governor Bagudu was working on how to grow the diary industry and tap into the experience of the company to empower dairy farmers in Kebbi State with added emphasis on women.

The dairy organization commenced a‘Dairy Development Program’ in August 2010 to build up commercial scale dairy farming and works with local dairy farmers that have milked for subsistence for generations.The company,popularly known for products like Peak Milk and Three Crowns Milk took the Governor and his team on a tour of their facilities and presented their history explaining that they have been a part of most Nigerian homes since 1954 through their flagship brand,Peak Milk.

The Kebbi team were received by Managing Director,Mr.Ben Langat; Corporate Affairs Director,Mrs.Ore Famurewa and Operations Director, Mr. Doyin Ashiru.In attendance were the Kebbi State Permanent Secretary of State Ministry of Animal Health,Special Adviser,Ibrahim Bande and Hon.Usman Belkore amongst others.By sharing knowledge and providing a market for these farmers, FrieslandCampina WAMCO contributes to improving the quality and quantity of raw milk,the social position of farmers and also increase self-sufficiency/food security of the nation.
