Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has directed the Ministries of Water Resources and Works to ensure steady water and electricity supply in schools and health centers in the state.

Governor Sani-Bello gave the directive on Tuesday when he visited Galadiman Kogo in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state as part of his local government assessment tour.

The Governor who stated that light and water were necessities in schools and health centers said its efficient supply will go along way to ease the sufferings of students and patients.

In Zumba, Governor Sani-Bello advised the people of the community and its environs to ensure payment of electricity bills in order to avoid interruption of the supply of power by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company as the company is no longer government owned but now privately owned.

He also advised the people of the community to desist from handling electrical faults on their own especially on issues that has to do with electric cables as it may lead to loss of lives in the process.

“I am aware you have been disconnected from the National Grid for sometimes now but I pleaded with the AEDC that light should be restored to the community. On your own part you must ensure you pay your bills to avoid disconnection and you must desist from handling electrical faults on your especially the one that has to do directly with the AEDC in order to avoid disasters that may lead to loss of lives

The Governor however assured the people of Zumba of the construction of a secondary school in the community and a transformer to serve the community.

Earlier, the District Head of the community, Alhaji Musa Umaru who spoke on behalf of the people commended Governor Sani-Bello for the giant strides recorded in his administration and had called on him to come to the aid of the people in the areas of construction of a secondary school and provision of a new transformer.

In Erena, Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello assured the people of his administration’s support for the youths by providing employment opportunities to enable them earn a living.

” The issue of unemployment is a global phenomenon but the state government has taken steps already to address the situation”.

He also assured the people that the Government Day Secondary School will be assessed for the Whole School Development Approach.

“The school should be assessed for whole school approach. The process will include fencing, renovation and construction of classrooms and laboratories.

The Governor further directed the Ministry of Works to ensure the immediate assessment of the road that leads to the community with a view to offer temporary solution.

Meanwhile, the District Head of Erena, Alhaji Mohammadu Abdullahi on behalf of the people appealed to the Governor to come to the aid of the people and ensure that they enjoy basic social amenities.
