At least three suspected armed bandits were neutralised, one arrested, and two motorcycles recovered during a successful joint operation by local vigilante operatives and troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development, said the incident occurred on Thursday, June 6, around 3:00 p.m., when four armed bandits on two motorcycles were intercepted by members of the Yansakai vigilante group. The suspects were reportedly moving between Yan Mangwarora, Mallamawa, and Kurar Mota villages in the Dansadau District of Maru LGA.
According to credible sources, the vigilantes confronted the suspects, leading to a fierce exchange that resulted in the killing of three bandits, the arrest of one, and the seizure of two motorcycles used in their operations.
The arrested suspect was later handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation, while the corpses of the neutralised bandits were deposited at the General Hospital in Dansadau.
This successful operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces and local operatives to curb banditry and restore peace in Zamfara State.
