LGA ASSESSMENT: Quaan-Pan Council Chairman,4 others top performance list

In pursuit of our organisational objectives and consistent value of checkmating and encouraging good governance, the COA Media Group embarked on assessment of the performance of Plateau State Local government council Chairmen for the first half of 2020 (January – June).

With respect to this exercise, Hon. Isaac Kyale Kwallu FCIA, FCIPMA, the Executive Chairman Quaan-Pan Local Government Area made it to the top of the ladder in this maiden edition. He and other four (4) Local Government Chairmen emerged the top five (5) Performing Local Government Chairmen for the first half of the year 2020.

Other Chairmen who made it to the list are;

Hon. Joshua laven Ubandoma.
Executive Chairman Langtang North Local Government Area.

Hon. Shehu Bala.
Executive Chairman Jos North Local Government Area.

Hon. Nde Emmanuel lar.
Executive Chairman Kanke Local Government Area.

Hon. Gwalson Mafeng.
Executive Chairman Riyom Local Government Area.

The activities of these Chairmen ranging from Infrastructural Development, Poverty Alleviation, Security, Empowerment, Youth Engagements, awareness and aptness in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic and Improvement of internally generated revenue of their various local council areas, is not only applauding but worth emulating.

These Chairmen have indeed demonstrated excellent leadership and good governance to the admiration of many.

“This process involved opinions sampling generated from our over twenty thousand members online who participated in the monitoring and evaluation process across the state after which primary data were received from the Local Government Areas..”

Justifying the criteria used in arriving at its decision, Amb. Cletus Akhimien, Executive Director COA Media Group said the organisation arrived at its conclusion through its over 20 thousand members who sent in opinions through an online platform which is verifiable.

He however stated that the aim of the project is to raise the awareness and participation of Plateau people in the socio-economic and political development of the state through the Local Govt system..

‘We launched a platform which allowed all our twenty thousand members to determine the top five CHAIRMEN in Plateau State and they were accessed based on five prioritised areas which includes Infrastructure, Accessibility, Youth Engagements, Security and prompt response in tackling the spread of Covid-19 pandemic” he stated.

He added that the evaluation exercise will be done twice yearly and the organisation will subsequently commence the assessment of all the elected officials.
