The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, Lagos, has rewarded outstanding residential blocks in its Second Quarter Inter-Block Competition, reaffirming its commitment to providing better living conditions and a conducive environment for personnel.

The awards were presented on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, by the Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, at the Centre’s Parade Ground.

The competition was organised to promote environmental sanitation, proper maintenance of accommodation facilities, discipline and collective responsibility among personnel, with the ultimate goal of creating a conducive environment for enhanced training.

More than 40 residential blocks participated in the exercise, which assessed cleanliness, environmental management, maintenance and structural condition of accommodation facilities, as well as innovative value-added projects.

Giving an overview of the competition, the Director of Administration, Air Commodore SU Bello, said the inspection committee conducted the assessment on July 31, 2026, following a pre-inspection briefing held on July 29.

He explained that the results were based on an objective assessment and collation of observations by members of the inspection committee.

Bello commended all participating blocks for their efforts, noting that the competition had demonstrated that “excellence is achievable through discipline, teamwork and consistency.”

At the end of the competition, Corporal and Below Quarters (CBQ) Block S emerged overall winner and received a cash prize of ₦1 million.

CBQ Block T came second and received ₦600,000, while Brigadier General AO James Block placed third and received ₦400,000.

Speaking at the presentation, AVM Ilo congratulated the winning blocks for their outstanding performance and urged them to sustain the standards that earned them recognition.

He also encouraged other residential blocks to intensify their efforts and use the competition as an opportunity to improve before the next assessment.

The Commandant described the cash prizes as a well-deserved recognition of the winners’ commitment and performance, urging them to remain exemplary models for other blocks to emulate.

The presentation generated excitement among personnel as representatives of the winning blocks received their awards.

The Inter-Block Competition is part of the Commandant’s broader efforts to promote a formidable training environment, enhanced personnel welfare and sustained infrastructure development at the Centre in line with global best practices.

The initiative also underscored AVM Ilo’s commitment to recognising and rewarding diligence, excellence and outstanding performance among personnel while encouraging collective responsibility for maintaining a conducive living and training environment.
