Neptune Prime Network Nigeria Limited has unveiled the Neptune Prime Institute of Journalism (NPIJ), a new media training institution established to equip aspiring journalists, content creators and communication professionals with practical, industry-relevant skills.
The institute, founded by veteran journalist, publisher and CEO of Neptune Prime Network Nigeria Limited, Dr Hassan Gimba, anipr, has also announced the commencement of the sale of application forms for its September 2026 admission.
According to the organisers, NPIJ is designed to nurture individuals passionate about storytelling and media practice through a blend of academic excellence and hands-on professional training.
Prospective students can apply for any of the institute’s programmes through the institute’s website. The available courses include Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies, Certificate in Mass Communication and Media Practice, Certificate in Content Creation (English Language), and Certificate in Content Creation (Hausa Language).
The institute said all programmes have been structured to prepare participants for successful careers in journalism, digital media, broadcasting, content development and related communication fields.
Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, the institute said it is committed to delivering quality journalism education through a faculty and governing board made up of experienced professionals from journalism, academia, law, business, public administration and communication.
The governing board is chaired by the founder, Dr Hassan Gimba, and includes respected media personalities and professionals such as Garba Mamu, Chairman of the Advisory Board; former NUJ National Secretary Shu’aibu Usman Leman; Shettima Bukar Imam; Suleiman Gimba Hassan, Esq.; Dr Rachael O. Ojeka-John; Newsdiaryonline Publisher and GOCOP President Danlami R. Nmodu, mni; Dr Saleh Mari Maina; Halima Abdulrauf; Gift Luckson; Aminu Abubakar Sadiq; Lilian Hosea; Tawheed Yakub; Charles Onunaiju; Mohammed Salisu Adamu; Engr. The institute noted that its training philosophy combines classroom instruction with practical newsroom experience, enabling students to graduate with professional portfolios that meet industry standards.
It also highlighted several advantages available to students, including flexible online learning accessible from any location, mentorship from practising journalists and academics, practical and career-focused training, as well as the opportunity to build a professional portfolio before graduation.
With the launch of the Neptune Prime Institute of Journalism, the organisation said it aim to contribute to the development of ethical, skilled and digitally savvy media professionals capable of meeting the evolving demands of Nigeria’s media industry.
