Professionals across Nigeria’s built environment sector were celebrated for their outstanding contributions to national development at the 2026 edition of the Celebrities & The Built Environment (CBE) event.
The gathering brought together architects, engineers, builders, surveyors, quantity surveyors, estate valuers and other industry stakeholders in an evening dedicated to recognising the professionals whose work shapes the nation’s physical landscape.
Welcoming guests, Convener Akinfenwa Mobolaji D. said the event was created to spotlight the often-overlooked experts behind the country’s infrastructure and urban development.
“Tonight is about you—the professionals who design, build, measure, plan and shape our world,” he said, noting that the occasion offered an opportunity to celebrate excellence, professionalism and the impact of the industry.
Mobolaji also highlighted key issues confronting the sector, including the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence, the need for professionals to adapt to emerging technologies, the challenge of quackery, and the importance of maintaining professional standards and public confidence.
He stressed that a stronger, united voice across the industry is essential, adding that CBE 2026 seeks to deepen collaboration through advocacy, media engagement and strategic partnerships.
According to him, initiatives such as The Chronicles of Construction (TCoC) Monthly Journal and Construction Launchpad will continue to document industry milestones, promote knowledge sharing and amplify the voices of professionals.
Delivering the opening remarks, the CBE 2026 Matron, Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi, FNIA, IPPNIA, traced the evolution of the initiative from Archibuilt, a programme of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, to a respected multi-disciplinary platform for the entire built environment community.
She said the transformation aligns with her vision of fostering greater collaboration among allied professionals during her tenure as the 30th President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects.
“CBE has become a platform that celebrates, connects and gives visibility to the professionals whose work defines how we live, work and interact as a society,” Adeniyi said.
She emphasised the importance of collaboration, innovation and a shared vision for the future of the industry, especially with the participation of government representatives, industry leaders and professional bodies at the 2026 edition.
The event concluded with a renewed call for professionals to strengthen industry partnerships, celebrate collective achievements and continue supporting platforms that showcase the contributions of the built environment sector.
Organisers also urged stakeholders to remain engaged with The Chronicles of Construction, describing shared storytelling as a vital tool for promoting the industry’s growth and reinforcing its indispensable role in national development.
